Thousands queue at Croke Park for booster vaccines and Covid-19 tests as staff praised

Thousands were pictured queuing at Croke Park for booster vaccines and Covid-19 tests as staff at GAA HQ were praised for their speedy turnarounds.

The praise comes in contrast to some reports on social media that people queued for over five hours at the Citywest vaccine centre waiting to get their booster jabs.

In total, 36 walk-in vaccination centres are operational across the country including seven centres in Dublin.

And the staff at the stadium have been hailed for their efficiency in getting people in and out.

One said: "Great organisation at the Croke Park Testing Centre. In and out in less than 3 min. Some @defenceforces personnel testing. Thanks."

Another person tweeted that workers should be given snacks due to the cold weather: "Will someone please bring snacks to the Croke Park booster queue. It's cold and rainy for all these HCPs."

Over the past fortnight, over 100,000 people have received booster doses at walk-in vaccine centres across Dublin and Ireland.

As of Monday, November 29, a total of 802,691 booster doses have been administered.

579 people are currently being treated in hospital with Covid-19, 122 of those in ICU.
