The emergency Covid-19 testing centre in West Lothian will stay open for another two weeks.
West Lothian Council announced on March 12 that the Community Testing Programme (CTP) would stay open until next Sunday and thousands of residents are asked to come forward.
The programme was created in December 2020 to enable local authorities with high prevalence of Covid-19 to work in partnership with the UK government to identify asymptomatic cases and support them to isolate.
The CTP testing centre is based at Whitburn Community Centre, Manse Road and any Whitburn residents who do not have symptoms can book a test.
It has capability to test 500 people per day, Monday to Sunday from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
The Whitburn CTP was originally only scheduled to be open for one week but it will now be open until Sunday 21 March.
As reported by The Courier the spike in Covid-19 cases in Whitburn reached two schools but Public Health Scotland data shows that cases have dropped again in recent weeks throughout the town.
A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: "Please make sure you turn up on time for your appointment, rather than early or late, to ensure traffic flow can be managed.
"Anyone whose test comes back positive should follow the instructions provided and take immediate action to stop the spread of the virus to others by self-isolating."
All tests must be booked in advance at www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
