Thousands of Tartan Army fans take over London’s Leicester Square for massive street party

Thousands of Scotland football fans have crammed into London’s Leicester Square ahead of tonight’s Euro 2020 clash with England.

A sea of supporters were filmed packed tightly together despite the torrential rain south of the border on Friday afternoon.

The hardy souls enjoyed a loud sing-song in the street with renditions of The Bonnie Banks O’Loch Lomond and Flower of Scotland forming key parts of their repertoire.

In a nod to the national squad’s super midfielder, ‘Super John McGinn’ was also belted out throughout the afternoon.

Fans have been partying for several hours but remain in high spirits with only a few revellers carrying umbrellas or using waterproof ponchos.

Several colourful flares have also been let off by the jubilant crowd which continues to grow in size.

Uniformed police officers remain in attendance and are keeping a watchful eye on the high-spirited crowd before kick off at 8pm.

We earlier told how one Tartan Army fan was branded a “wee f***y” by his own mum after she spotted a video of him falling into the William Shakespeare fountain.

The unnamed man, from Possil in Glasgow, who joined more than 20,000 fans that have travelled to London, toppled in while wearing designer trainers.
