What is happening with Snapchat? Users report the app has gone down

Thousands of Snapchat users have reported the social media app has gone down globally.

It's the third giant app to have been hit by technical failure this week.

When Facebook and Instagram went down for around six hours last Monday, Snapchat saw a surge of users.

Around 20 per cent more people logged into the app during its rival's outage which reportedly cost the company £4.4 billion, according to the BBC.

Now, almost 30,000 users are reporting issues with Snapchat on the Down Detector website which keeps track of the status of major social media apps.

Among those who are unhappy with the situation, 60 per cent say there is a problem with the app, 21 per cent have reported issues with logging in while 19 per cent say they're having connection problems.

Issues appeared to start around 11.30am this morning with many more complaints arriving not much later.

Some users have taken to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the app at the moment.

One user said: Is anyone else's Snapchat down?? Snaps aren't sending."

Another user added: "Snapchat need to get it together."

On Twitter, Snapchat Support wrote: "Thanks for letting us know, we're looking into this!"
