Thousands of Sky customers to see prices rise up to £72 a year from August

Thousands of Sky broadband and TV customers will be hit with price rises of as much as £72 a year from August.

Sky's latest increase applies to customers who didn't see bills rise at first when it increased prices for everyone else in April.

This group of customers will the cost of their Entertainment TV package increase by £2 a month while Sky's Essentials broadband customers will see prices rise by £2 a month as well.

People with multi-screen services will have £1 a month added to bills while those with HD TV packages will pay an £1 a month more too.

Those worst hit could see bills rise by £6 a month in total - working out at £72 a year - but Sky calculated the average rise will be half that.

Increases come into effect on your August bill.

Sky Cinema, Sky Kids, and Sky Sports TV packages are unchanged, along with superfast broadband and home phone prices.

Ahead of the April rise, Sky told Mirror Money: "We know price increases are never welcome, so we try to keep prices down while continuing to bring customers the best entertainment all in one place, leading customer service and even more flexibility to choose the package that best suits them."

A Sky spokesperson told The Sun : “This is not an additional price increase – a small number of our customers did not receive notification of their price increase earlier this year and they are now being notified.

"We know price increases are never welcome, so we try to keep prices down while continuing to bring customers the best entertainment all in one place, leading customer service and even more flexibility to choose the package that best suits them.”
