Thousands of Sky customers to see prices rise up to £72 a year

Thousands of Sky broadband and TV customers could see a price rise of as much as £72 a year from August.

The latest increase will apply to customers who didn't see a bill rise at first when it increased prices for everyone else back in April.

Customers will see the cost of their Entertainment TV package increase by £2 a month, while Sky's Essentials broadband customers will also see a price rise of £2 a month.

Those with multi-screen services will have £1 a month added to their bills, while those with HD TV packages will also pay an extra £1 per month, as the Mirror reports.

Households worst hit could see their bills rise by £6 a month in total, working out at £72 per year, however Sky calculated the average rise will be half that.

Customers with Sky Cinema, Sky Kids, and Sky Sports TV packages are unchanged, along with superfast broadband and home phone prices.

Ahead of the rise back in April, Sky told Mirror Money : "We know price increases are never welcome, so we try to keep prices down while continuing to bring customers the best entertainment all in one place, leading customer service and even more flexibility to choose the package that best suits them."
