Another emergency testing centre has opened in a Covid-19 struck West Lothian town.
The community testing centre opens on March 22, and the public are asked to come forward and help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
The Community Testing Programme (CTP) was created in December 2020 to enable local authorities with high prevalence of Covid-19 to work in partnership with the UK government, and identify asymptomatic cases through local testing and support them to isolate.
Launching the scheme, the UK Government said “community testing is an important addition to our armoury in the fight against Covid-19 over the coming months.”
The mobile testing centre in Livingston is located at Carmondean Community Centre and is operated by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Only residents who not have Covid-19 symptoms can book a test.
The Courier reported today on the new outbreak in four neighbourhoods in Livingston.
It was also revealed earlier in the week that there had been confirmed cases of the virus at Peel Primary School in the area.
Now hundreds of residents in Livingston are asked to come forward and stop the virus from spreading further.
There is currently another emergency centre in Whitburn that is capable of testing 500 people per day.
The Whitburn centre has been open for the past two weeks and stops operating on Sunday March 21.
All tests must be booked in advance at www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test, with the centre open from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Appointments for the following day will be available from 6pm the evening before.
Please make sure you turn up on time for your appointment, rather than early or late, to ensure traffic flow can be managed.
Anyone whose test comes back positive should follow the instructions provided and take immediate action to stop the spread of the virus to others by self-isolating.
