Thousands of protesters are expected to descend on Manchester today as the Conservative Party Conference begins.
Two separate groups are planning protests on Sunday.
The People’s Assembly Against Austerity has called on people from across the country to visit the city to join a major rally.
The group say austerity is 'the most destructive force in Britain today'.
The National Demo will begin outside All Saints Park, on Oxford Road, at midday, and will end in Cathedral Approach, where speakers will include TUC general secretary Francis O'Grady, actor Julie Hesmondhalgh and Ashton-under-lyne MP Angela Rayner.
The People’s Assembly is also holding a series of events in Piccadilly Gardens.
Talks will take place on a variety of issues - including the climate crisis, the NHS, welfare and housing.
Thousands of demonstrators are expected to join the Reject Brexit, Defend Our Democracy march, also on Sunday.
It is due to leave Whitworth Park on Oxford Road, go past the Tory Party Conference to a rally at Castlefield Bowl.
Chief Superintendent Wasim Chaudhry, of Greater Manchester Police, said tens of thousands of people are expected to attend the two rallies, as in past years when the Tories have held their conference in Manchester.
Oxford Road, Chepstow Street, Whitworth Street West, Liverpool Road and Deansgate will be closed from 9am until 5pm on Sunday.
