Thousands of pounds of damage caused by vandals slashing tyres on TEN cars in Paisley street

Thousands of pounds of damage has been caused to cars in a Paisley street after TEN had their tyres slashed within days.

Mindless car vandals have been targeting motors on Montgomery Road and Montgomery Avenue in Gallowhill, leaving raging residents with hefty bills for new tyres.

It’s understood at least ten vehicles have been damaged in just a few days - with one fuming resident telling how he has been a victim of the tyre slashers TWICE.

Shocking CCTV footage shared with the Express shows one hooded yob in the act, and he can be seen walking up to a car parked within a car park, slashing two tyres and then walking off in the other direction on November 13.

He is wearing a dark hooded top and dark trousers in the video clip which showed the incident happened just after 12.30am.

The owner of the car told the Express this was the second time in two weeks his car was damaged, costing him £600 to replace four tyres.

The 33-year-old told the Express: “When it happened the first time, my car was parked on Netherhill Way, which is just off Montgomery Road.

“So I decided to move it into the car park and then it happened again.

“It looked like it had been done with a knife.

“He came from the direction of the high flats so he either walked or drove and parked his car out of view of the CCTV.

“I’m now £600 down as I have had to replace all of my tyres.”

The man, who asked not to be named, posted a warning on social media to other residents living in the area and is also appealing to anyone living nearby to check their CCTV.

A number of people commented saying they had also been targeted by the cruel vandals.

One person commented: “Multiple cars done on Montgomery Road too, an absolute joke. No consideration for people now having to fork out money to replace tyres.”

Another added: “My car was done last night on Montgomery Road. Luckily my husbands wasn’t or else I wouldn’t have got to work this morning as a carer.”

The man, who has lived in the area for over a year, added: “I have heard from a few people now that there have been a number of cars which have also been targeted.

“Once I posted what happened there were other people saying they had their tyres slashed too.

“I moved here a year ago and it has been so quiet. I don’t know what is going on.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
