Thousands of new homes are set to be built in Sefton in a raft of developments that will drastically reshape how the borough looks.
There is an increasingly high demand for housing in Sefton, with house prices rising over the last 12 months.
Southport, Formby, Crosby, Maghull and Waterloo have all seen prices going up. According to property website RightMove, prices in Lydiate have increased by nearly a quarter, with sold prices over the last year up 22% on the previous year.
This means properties in Lydiate had an overall average price of £244,721 over the last year.
Here is a look at some of the new housing projects popping up across Sefton.
Maghull
The biggest housing development in Sefton at the moment is in Maghull.
More than 1,700 houses are set to be built on the former greenbelt land east of Maghull.
This is part of two separate housing developers building next to each other.
A massive 1,721 houses are to be built a mile from Maghull town centre on farmland associated with Bridge Farm and The Poplars between Maghull and the M58.

Sefton Council initially agreed to remove the land from the Green Belt in April 2017 to allow it to be used for homes and a business park.
As part of the agreement with developers to build on the land, they must financially contribute towards a new health care facility in Maghull, the expansion of Summerhill Primary School and a new bus service through the site.
Litherland
Bellway Homes caused a bit of friction in Litherland when their planning application for almost 200 houses was accepted.
The 185 houses set to be built on Orrell Road, the former site of St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School, includes no affordable housing.
The houses are a mixture of two, three and four bedroom houses with a new highway junction from Hawthorne Road, public open space, and a children’s play area.
Bellway Homes are looking to begin building imminently with the houses going up for sale winter this year.
Thornton
Almost 400 homes are set to be finished in Thornton soon, with many of the two, three and four bedroom houses already being sold.
The housing developer, Barratt Homes, says that the last house will be ready for next month.

The housing development has caused a stir with local residents with concerns of traffic, air pollution and sewage.
Sundial Place, on Lydiate Lane, boasts houses substantially dearer than the average house price for the area, some being over double the average price.
The average house price for the area is £159,603, whereas the most expensive house on the new built estate being £350,000.
Churchtown
Wainhomes are set to build more than 300 homes in Churchtown.
The housing developer has set a target of 2022 to have completed the estate, despite the target date already being pushed back from late 2020.
The 328 homes will be built on farmland, with the company having to agree to a huge 40 conditions.
One condition being that a site-wide strategy must be implemented for foul and surface water drainage.
Formby
Pinewood Park is the new housing development being built in Formby, right next to the Formby Bypass.
The housing development, a joint venture from Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, will have 304 houses.

Barratt Homes have 176 houses in total, with a completion date set for summer 2024, and David Wilson Homes offering 128 homes with a completion date yet to be finalised.
