Thousands of free breakfasts are being handed out in Bristol this week

Commuters in the city centre will be treated to breakfast on the house this week, as thousands of free meals are handed out on Millennium Promenade.

A variety of tasty breakfast items will be handed out between 8am - 10am on Thursday and Friday and between 10am - 1pm on Saturday, including a box of high fibre cereal from Kelloggs, a shot of good bacteria from Symprove, yoghurt pot from Yeo Valley, bottle of kombucha from Karma Kombucha and fibre sachets for your morning coffee from Bimuno.

The mass giveaway is part of a three-day event headed up by The Gut Stuff, which is run by Lisa and Alana Macfarlane, more commonly known as The Mac Twins.

The sisters, known for being Love Island DJs and radio presenters, are bringing the roadshow to Bristol's harbourside with the aim of talking to as many people as possible about what is often seen as a taboo subject.

Alana and Lisa Macfarlane, known as The Mac Twins (Daniel Lewis)

They set up The Gut Stuff after becoming the 'chief guinea pigs' for Professor Tim Spector and the Twin Research department at Kings College.

They discovered that despite having 100 per cent the same DNA, their guts have only 40 per cent the same microbiota, which could explain why their bodies behave so differently.

This is why a much-loved deli has closed in Clifton

Alongside the free breakfasts, leading health experts Laura Tilt and Kristy Coleman will be in residence offering individual gut clinics - which need to be pre-booked - and there will be yoga for digestive health, fizzy fermentation demos, gut basics and brunch, kombucha workshops and lots more.

People can also hear from Professor Simon Gaisford and Dr Dawn Harper at the gut health supper club and meet the latest health brands who share similar beliefs on the importance of good gut health including Symprove, Kelloggs, Bimuno, Yeo Valley and Karma Kombucha.

The pop-up gut clinic will take over the unit on the Millennium Promenade which was formerly occupied by The Cycle Shop, opposite Pizza Express.
