Thousands of euro worth of cannabis including edibles seized in two separate searches

Thousands of euro worth of cannabis, including edibles, was found in two separate searches.

The first took place during a COVID-19 patrol in Greystones, Co Wicklow.

It saw €1,850 of cash seized, along with cannabis edibles and herb.

While in Kilbarrack, two kilos of cannabis herb was seized yesterday during a search operation.

A man was arrested at the scene in the joint operation between Revenue and Gardai.

A Revenue spokesman said: "Yesterday (15/04/2020), as part of an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers seized almost 2kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €38,000 following a search, under warrant, of a premises in the Kilbarrack area of Dublin.

"The joint operation was conducted by Revenue’s Custom Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Gardaí from the Clontarf Drugs Unit.

"An Irish man, aged 29, was arrested at the scene by Gardaí and was detained under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Clontarf Garda Station.

"Investigations are ongoing.

"This operation was part of ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups. If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding drug smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
