Thousands of Dubliners are without power this evening after ESB Networks reported a "cluster of service interruptions" in two areas of the south inner city.
More than 2,000 residents in Dublin 8 have been without electricity since around 6:30, with one messaging Dublin Live to say that they were just about to start cooking when it went.
ESB Networks’ powercheck service on their website lists the two faults and the utility has apologised for the loss of electricity to its customers.
It said that 2,289 customers were without power due to the power cut in the Newmarket area, while 73 customers had been affected by the outage in the Marrowbone Lane area.
For Newmarket customers, power is expected to be restored by 7.45pm, the ESB said, while for those affected in and around Marrowbone Lane, electricity is expected to return by around half past ten tonight.
The ESB added: "We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible."
