Thousands of driving tests to become available through the DVSA website

The DVSA has confirmed that 375,000 new tests are to become available from Monday 14th September.

It comes as Edinburgh locals struggled to book a one after demand surged when tests were re-introduced for the first time in lockdown from 7 September onwards.

Now those hoping to get their license may be able to book a test, with dates to be released all the way up to January 21 next year.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency also hope to increase the number of car driving tests per day from five to six to keep up with demand.

A statement on the DVSA website reads: "Level of demand for tests is exceptionally high.

"If you have not been able to book or change your driving test appointment, please try again on Monday 14th September we will be making over 375,000 more new and rescheduled tests available on 14 September to book up to 21 January 2021.
