Thousands of ‘dangerous’ illegal weight-loss jab doses seized

• Illegal weight-loss medication, dubbed “skinny jabs” was seized from a farm and a home in Lincolnshire, suspected of being part of a criminal network producing and selling fake jabs.
• Officers from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and Lincolnshire Police confiscated almost 2,000 doses of the dangerous products, along with manufacturing equipment and ingredients.
• The street value of the seized finished weight-loss products alone is estimated to be over £250,000.
• Health officials have warned that these unlicensed products are potentially deadly, often made with no regard for safety or quality, and have led to users becoming unwell or finding them ineffective.
• This operation follows a trend of organised crime gangs manufacturing fake weight-loss drugs, with the MHRA having conducted a record seizure last year and vowing to continue disrupting these networks.
