More than 7000 Commonwealth Bank customers disconnected from banking services in a major outage have had their access restored.
Online banking services including the bank's mobile app and some ATMs were taken offline shortly before midday on Thursday.
No branches were closed due to the outage, a Commonwealth Bank spokeswoman said.
"Some of our services were unavailable for approximately an hour before they started being restored," she said in a statement.
"All services are now restored. We apologise and thank customers for their patience."
Shortly before 2pm AEST, the bank was still working to reconnect systems.
"An issue today affecting some of our services is currently being fixed," the bank posted on X.
"CommBank banking services, including payments, online access and ATMs are being restored."
Customers took to social media to vent their frustration, some claiming ongoing issues accessing services, while others had been unable to access money while overseas.
Outages reported to Downdetector peaked at 7114 shortly after midday, and were still above 700 shortly before 2pm.
Commonwealth Bank is Australia's most valuable company and its biggest bank, with more than 17 million customers .
It delivered a record net profit after tax of more than $10 billion in the 2024/25 financial year.
