Thousands of Celtic fans sent Brexit passport warning ahead of Lazio trip

Celtic supporters have been urged to check their passports ahead of next month's Europa League trip to Lazio - in case of a no deal Brexit.

With Boris Johnston determined to seal the UK's exit from the European Union before the end of the month there are fears passports could suddenly become invalid in the wake of a potential "no deal".

Celtic travel to Rome for the Group E encounter on November 7 with up to 9000 Hoops diehards set to travel.

But passport rules could change just days beforehand if a deal with the EU can't be struck.

Celtic’s supporter liaison officer John Paul Taylor wrote on Twitter: “If there is a no-deal Brexit you will need a minimum six months on your passport to travel.

“Better check your expiry dates just in case.”

Thousands of Celtic fans will make the journey after UEFA confirmed that Lazio's Stadio Olimpico WON'T be closed for the tie.

The Curva Nord section of the ground - which houses Lazio's Ultras - will be shut after the Serie A side were charged over their fans' fascist salutes during a tie against Rennes.

There had been fears the match could have been played behind closed doors if the governing body took extreme action.
