Thousands more Covid-19 cases announced while NIAC give green light for children to get the vaccine

Covid numbers have been announced with 4,152 confirmed cases.

As of 8am today, 543 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 118 are in ICU.

The National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) has announced that children ages 5 to 11 are to be offered the vaccine.

The recommendation was given to Government today and around 480,000 children will be in line to get vaccinated.

Primary school children with underlying conditions, living with a younger child or those children who are either living immunocompromised adult and those who have complex medical needs will be given priority.

Currently, everyone aged 12 and over is eligible to receive an mRNA Covid-19 vaccine from either Pfizer or Moderna.
