Thousands in cash and drugs recovered after Inverness police action against dealers

Cops have reported more than a dozen people and recovered thousands in cash and drugs from Inverness.

Tip offs in the city led to police recovering more than £16,000 of cocaine and heroin from the Highland capital.

Thirteen people - 11 men aged between 19 and 63 and two women aged 23 and 28 - will be reported for various drug offences.

In total drugs with a street value of around £16,500 have been found, along with almost £6,000 in cash, following intelligence led searches in the Dalneigh and Merkinch areas.

Detective Inspector Ritchie Macrae said that police would continue to crack down despite the current coronavirus restrictions.

He said: "Despite the restrictions in place as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, Police Scotland are determined to continue efforts to disrupt the ongoing supply of illegal drugs which often have a significant affect on the most vulnerable members of our community."

The Inverness recoveries come following drug raids across Dundee.

Over 40 people have been arrested for a variety of offences, including assault, robbery and domestic abuse, along with many outstanding arrest warrants.

Drugs warrants have been executed across the city with crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis and pills all taken in as well as thousands in cash.

A handgun was found in one search which turned out to be an air pistol and £10,000 of heroin was recovered during a search of a house in the north of the city.
