Thousands impacted as Norwegian Air cancels all transatlantic routes between Ireland and North America

Thousands of customers are set to be impacted after transatlantic air routes between Dublin and North America have been cancelled by Norwegian Air.

The decision comes as the airline announced that routes between Ireland and the US are not commercially viable.

The flights will be stopped from September 15 this year, RTE reports.

The budget airline first started operating routes between Dublin, Cork, Shannon, and the US in July 2017.

Matthew Wood, SVP Long-Haul Commercial at Norwegian said, "Since March, we have tirelessly sought to minimise the impact on our customers by hiring replacement aircraft to operate services between Ireland and North America.

“However, as the return to service date for the 737 MAX remains uncertain, this solution is unsustainable."

Mr Wood added that the company will try and help customers to get their destinations by rerouting them to other Norwegian services after September 15.
