Thousands flock to Kilwinning’s Eglinton Country Park for Safe-T in the Park

Over 3000 people flocked to Kilwinning’s Eglinton Country Park for Safe-T in the Park.

The event saw police officers who work locally join with their many partners who work together for a safe and secure North Ayrshire.

People of all ages received safety advice, tried out emergency service vehicles for size, learned who to call in an emergency and spoke with police and their partners.

Police Scotland exhibits included public order, Mountain Rescue, Safety Camera Partnership, roads Policing and fun fingerprints.

Partners including Ardrossan Coastguard, Scottish Emergency Rider Volunteer Service, Coast Watch Irvine, Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and the Fire Heritage Trust also demonstrated their vehicles and equipment for visitors.

Other stalls included North Ayrshire Council - Youth Services, Community Safety Services, Trading Standards and Environmental Health - North Ayrshire Women’s Aid, Care of Police Survivors and KA Leisure who also offered sporting activities and free health checks.

Sergeant Jason Peter, local authority liaison officer in North Ayrshire, said: “We would like to thank everyone who attended the event and took the time to speak with officers and our partners.

“We are committed to working with communities and our partners to ensure North Ayrshire remains a safe place to live, work and visit. Events reinforce that commitment and provide an informal opportunity for visitors to find out more about the work that takes place on a daily basis to keep them safe.

“We have already been asked about an event for next year so watch this space.

“Thanks to the team who delivered the event today, to our partners who came along and special thanks to the team at Eglinton Country Park for their assistance and support.”
