Thousands enter hoax Morrisons food box scam promising freebies to all customers

Thousands of unknowing Facebook users have entered a hoax competition which claims all those taking part will win a Morrisons food box.

The Facebook account, which was only created today as 'Morrisons stores', has no affiliation with the real supermarket, despite posts posing as its CEO.

A recent post shared an image of Morrisons CEO David Potts, said: "COMPETlTlON ALERT! My name is David Potts and I'm the CEO of Morrisons Incl.

Sadly, the post was quickly filled with more than 5,000 comments and gained more than 32,000 shares from hopeful Facebook users.

It's not clear what the scammers were gaining from the fake profile as there is no request for bank details or personal information from those who entered.
