Thousands descend on Bristol city centre after England win

Around 2,000 people have gathered in Bristol city centre in celebrations after England's win over Denmark.

The team's triumph in the Euro 2020 semi-final tonight has seen a huge crowd gather along St Augustine's Parade, next to the floating harbour.

Our reporter on the scene, Ross Millen said: "There are car horns in every direction. I'd argue even 2,000 people are here. it's mayhem."

Songs including Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline, Gala's Freed from Desire and of course the '96 England anthem Three Lions have been ringing out across the city.

Footage shows a large group have gathered to chant and celebrate in Gloucester Road, Bishopston, as well as the city centre. People have been letting off fireworks across Bristol.

We were at the Three Lions pub in Bedminster, Lakota in St Pauls and Yate Town FC's clubhouse this evening, as fans struggled to contain their emotions during a frenetic, stress-filled and ultimately joyous win.

One fan in Lakota told Bristol Live that the celebrations were "insane", adding: "People are absolutely mental."

You can see how Bristol reacted to each twist and turn in this recap of our live blog from this evening.

It means England are just one win away from claiming a first major trophy since 1966.

And we'd love to see your pictures and videos showing what's going on near you as Euro delirium grips the city. Send them in to bristolpostnews@localworld.co.uk
