Thought-provoking dance staged by For What

For WhaT theatre is staging Contemp(lative) Dance, a solo dance performance by Sasapin Siriwanij, at Antigravity, 2nd floor of Slure, opposite Charoen Krung 57, on March 20-22 at 8pm.

Contemp(lative) Dance by Sasapin Siriwanij.

Held in collaboration with Projectionist Asia and Alternative Universe, the performance invites the audience to share a meditative presence within the same space and time as the performing artist.

Sasapin will perform the results of her meditative engagement with "Uncarved Block", an audio lecture by the late British-American philosopher Alan Watts. The lecture explores various keywords in Japanese art through which Zen and Tao philosophies manifest. Watts was one of the first to interpret and popularise Eastern philosophy for a Western audience

Sasapin is a core member of B-Floor Theatre and began performing solo in 2013. Her most recent work, Oh! Ode, performed in August 2017, explored political implications within Thai traditional art forms.

The production earned her Best Performance by a Female Artist award from the Theatre Critics Association Thailand. She is currently artistic director of Bangkok International Performing Arts Meeting (Bipam).

Tickets at the door cost 400 baht (350 baht for advanced booking with payment to made by 8pm on March 19).
