The competing celebrations of Blake Lively and Taylor Swift have done little to squash rumours of a feud, with both stars snubbing each other on their respective big days.
ICYMI, Lively and Swift have been at the centre of feud rumours for the better part of this year, thanks to the actress’ seemingly unending legal battle with Justin Baldoni.
Swift, a longtime friend of Lively’s, was roped into the battle when she was named in court documents filed by Baldoni, who claimed she was used by Lively to exert creative control over It Ends With Us — the 2024 film which kickstarted this whole fiasco.
It all culminated in a subpoena being issued to Swift, and while her lawyers managed to get it tossed, the lingering tensions as a result of Swift being roped into the mess have apparently caused a wedge between the two former besties.
That wedge seemingly hit chasm levels earlier this week, when Lively’s 38th birthday coincided with the announcement of Swift’s engagement to NFL star Tavis Kelce.
Lively was busy re-sharing friends’ social media posts celebrating her birthday, while on the same day, Swift shared news of her engagement — with neither party sending well-wishes to the other on their profiles.
While we might be reading too deep into the pair’s supposed snubs, an insider who spoke to the Daily Mail claimed the social media silence was purposeful on Lively’s part.
“Blake didn’t reach out [after Swift’s engagement] and isn’t going to,” the source claimed.
“This is something that we would’ve talked about in the past… if she was going to be in the wedding, but now, it’s just silence,” they added.
Apparently, tensions are so high that not only is Lively not in the running for bridesmaid duties, but she likely won’t be at the wedding altogether.
“There’s no ‘will she or won’t she’ about Blake being in the wedding, because she just won’t,” the source said.
“She knows that, and I don’t think she particularly wants to talk about that,” they added.
It marks the latest escalation of frostiness between the pair amid Lively’s ongoing legal battle with Baldoni.
In February, reports of a feud swirled when Lively was noticeably absent from Swift’s entourage at the Super Bowl, with tensions only heightened by news that Kelce had unfollowed Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds on Instagram.
Then came Baldoni’s claims that Lively had threatened to extort Swift if she didn’t publicly support her, which by extension roped in Swift’s dad, Scott Swift.
All of it is messy as hell, and the longer it goes on the more it feels like there’s weight to this feud rumour.
Neither party has commented of course, but I guess we’ll just have to blast “Bad Blood” on repeat till they do.
