Thorpe Park Fright Night slammed for lengthy queues and 'actors who don't seem bothered'

A theme park's Fright Night has been slammed for '100+ minute queues' and 'actors who don't seem bothered'.

Guests complained of huge queues at Thorpe Park all day and claimed they were only able to have time for two rides.

Others, meanwhile, said there weren't enough actors in the maze and those who were there "didn't seem bothered".

The attraction in Chertsey, Surrey is a popular destination for Londoners, but "safety and security" measures are making the experience unpleasant for some looking for a fun day out.

Ellie Reeves told MyLondon : "We went yesterday and thought it was so disappointing compared to last year! Wasn't scary at all considering it is supposed to be a "Fright Night".

Anthony Kennedy said: "Thinking of going to Thorpe Park for Fright Night this year? Don’t. It’s massively oversold. Every ride is like 100+ minutes queue.

"The scary mazes and rides were all sold out before we even got here - we didn’t even know we’d have to book. Even fast track tickets are sold out.

"Barely any scare zones and the ones that were there, the actors didn't seem bothered towards the end of the day!"

Sarah Maloney responded: "Snap! The only 2 actors my daughter came across said they were “off duty”."

As well as allegedly lacklustre acting performances, guests also complained of enormous queues that made it impossible to get their money's worth.

"£200 to drive two hours and not do anything frightening?

"Even the support people said they were oversold. Back to back people crushed next to each other for hours, during Covid!

"I won’t waste a Saturday of my life on this again. Family time is precious."

Another user said: "Because of queues at Thorpe Park we're probably only going to get on one of the mazes rather than the three we paid for. Think too many tickets have been sold."

Thorpe Park has been contacted for comment.

Last week, the park blamed Fright Night's popularity, half term, the mild weather and the behaviour of guests for disruption experienced by visitors.

Visitors said they thought too many tickets had been sold for the 'Fright Night' event (Eleanor Fleming)

A spokesman said: “There was huge demand from guests, due to the start of the event coinciding with half term and mild weather.

“Despite this we still had over 85% of our top 10 rides available on Saturday and over 91% available on Sunday.

“Of the limited ride shut downs seen over the weekend, many were as a result of issues caused by guests.

“With a large number of guests and robust and stringent safety and security measures in place, including support from Surrey Police, entry into the park may have taken a little longer than usual.

"On October 17, there were a very small minority of individuals who wished to cause trouble. They were swiftly dealt with by the park security teams and supporting police officers.”
