Thorntonhall residents in fear after second arson attack this year

Residents in plush Thorntonhall have been left fearing for their safety again following a second arson attack in their street this year

A lit petrol bomb type object was thrown over a fence onto a driveway towards parked vehicles. A brick was also thrown, causing damage to the back window of one of them.

The incident occurred on Baroness Drive – the same street where a Porsche SUV was set ablaze on March 15 this year.

Specialist police say they are treating the incident, which happened in the early hours of Sunday, as wilful fire raising. Police have reported no injuries or serious damage following the attach.

Detective Constable Chris McLaughlin said: “Two men were seen getting out of a dark coloured hatchback.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area, or who has dash-cam or CCTV footage of people or vehicles to contact us immediately.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101. Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
