Man charged with murder of Damarie Omare Roye in Thornton Heath

A man has been charged with murder after a 16-year-old was fatally stabbed in Thornton Heath.

Damarie Omare Roye was stabbed in Bensham Manor Road on Friday and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The teenager tragically died on Sunday. Police said his family are being supported by specialist officers.

Byron Whyne, 19, of Grenaby Road, Croydon, has been charged with murder and will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court today.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Wednesday, 14 July at Croydon Mortuary and found that Damarie died from a stab wound.

A 22-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He was later further arrested on suspicion of murder. He has since been released under investigation.
