Thornton Heath crash: Man in his 60s dies after being hit by lorry in south London

A man in his 60s has died after being hit by a lorry in Thornton Heath.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene near Thornton Heath Pond at around 3.30pm on Thursday.

The man died at the scene around 45 minutes later.

Police said the lorry driver was co-operating with the investigation.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called to Brigstock Road, near to the junction with London Road, Croydon, shortly before 15.30hrs on Thursday, 11 April, to reports of a road traffic collision.

“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service (LAS).

“A man, believed to be in his 60s, was found who had been involved in a collision with a lorry.

“He was treated by paramedics at the scene but was pronounced dead at 16.19hrs.

“His next of kin have not been informed. A report will be prepared for the coroner in due course.

“A number of road closures have been put in place. No arrests. The lorry driver is helping police with their enquiries.”
