Thornliebank break-in: Armed gang threaten victims with knife and hammer

Police are hunting for three men who threatened their victims with a knife in a hammer during a late-night break-in in Thornliebank.

The suspects, who were all wearing dark clothing, forced their way into a property on Brent Road in the south side of Glasgow at around 11.30pm last night.

Police say nothing was stolen and no-one was injured during the incident, however the victims have been left badly shaken by the ordeal.

It's understood the men fled the scene in a dark coloured SUV in the direction of Boydstone Road near Silverburn.

Officers are now appealing to anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

A Police Scotland statement issued this afternoon advised: "Police in Glasgow are appealing for information after a break-in at a property on Brent Road in the Thornliebank area of the city.

"The incident happened around 11.30pm on Wednesday, 30 June.

"Three men wearing dark clothing forced entry to the property before threatening the adult occupants with a knife and a hammer.

"Nothing was stolen and no one was hurt but the householders were shaken by the experience.

"The men are then believed to have left in a dark coloured SUV in the direction of Boydstone Road."

Police Constable Heather Ferry of the Glasgow Robbery Unit said: “Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing and we would urge anyone with information to come forward.

“In particular we would be keen to speak to anyone with dashcam footage or private CCTV or door bell footage from the area at the time of the incident or afterwards.

“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 3922 of 30 June, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
