Thornhill teenager uses pedal power to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK

A 13-year-old boy from Thornhill has used pedal power to raise money for a national cancer charity.

Brodie Hill cycled 250 miles throughout the month of August in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK.

He set himself a target of £150 but has smashed that hitting £172.

The money raised will help the charity’s specialist nurses continue to support people during the pandemic and beyond.

Brodie has chosen to support the charity because he wanted something to motivate him going out on his bike and raising money for a charity was added inspiration.

He said: “I said to myself never give up. Although that’s easier said than done especially during some of the wet and windy days.”

Sue Collins, director of fundraising at Pancreatic Cancer UK, said: “We are so grateful that Brodie is supporting charity during this unprecedented time.

“We’re so impressed with the incredible amount of money he has raised and wish him all the best for his amazing cycle.

“Pancreatic cancer does not stop during a global pandemic – thousands of people up and down the UK are facing this cruel disease and will be especially vulnerable at this time.

“The money raised from Brodie’s challenge will help us be here for people who need support from our specialist nurses today, and will help us continue the cutting-edge research needed to transform survival for the deadliest common cancer now and in the future.”
