Thor drinks Innis & Gunn in Avengers: Endgame - and they're giving out free beer in Edinburgh to celebrate

Edinburgh has a special connection to the Avengers franchise after it featured in last year's Infinity War blockbuster.

While the superhero team hasn't returned to the Scottish capital in their latest hit, it seems one of them has decided to enjoy an Edinburgh-brewed beer.

Eagle-eyed viewers spotted Thor taking a swig of Innis & Gunn in Avengers: Endgame, which came out on Friday.

To celebrate, the brewers are offering a free bottle of The Original to anyone visiting the Innis & Gunn Brewery Taproom on Lothian Road this weekend.

To claim it, all you need to do is ask for a "Beer of Kings" on arrival, or if you come in fancy dress as Thor they'll cover your first round.

We're trying to avoid any big fat spoilers for the film, so it's a little difficult to describe the circumstances in which the God of Thunder knocks back the drink.

But he's clearly been enjoying himself when some of the other Avengers rendezvous with him in Norway.

Dougal Gunn Sharp, Innis & Gunn founder and Master Brewer, said: "As brand endorsements go, this one is pretty God.

"Avengers: Endgame is amazing, and to see one of the best loved characters enjoying one of our best loved beers is pretty special.

Edinburgh pub Black Rose Tavern's anti-spiking beer mats campaign praised

"We’re so pleased we made it into what is undoubtedly one of the major cultural events of the year that we’d like to give everyone of drinking age the opportunity to enjoy one of our beers for free.

"So, just pop into the Innis & Gunn Brewery Taproom on Lothian Road in Edinburgh, or our Beer Kitchens in Glasgow and Dundee and ask for a Beer of Kings at the bar.

"Or, if you want to go a step further and come dressed as the man himself we’ll cover your first round. Just don’t get hammered."
