Thor Bjornsson willing to give up on Martyn Ford fight amid Tyson Fury plan

Thor Bjornsson is ready to abandon his pursuit of a fight with Martyn Ford with no official offer on the table.

The Icelandic star made a successful start to his strongman boxing career after outpointing bitter rival Eddie Hall back in February to settle their long-term rivalry. He has been linked with a number of options since his victory including an exhibition with heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and a meeting with fellow heavyweight Ford.

Fans have frequently called for Bjornsson to share the ring with Ford after his rival's debut against Iranian Hulk was cancelled at short notice. But Bjornsson is uncertain the fight will take place with a lack of interest from potential promoters in staging the event. "He's been talking a lot of s*** but nothing has been spoken about further it's just him talking," Bjornsson said speaking in his role as a Reign total body fuel athlete. "I haven't received any offers from anybody, I haven't been contacted about the fight once.

"It seems that people want to see this fight happen, but no promote seems to be willing to put this fight together. I'm not going to pursue it. I know for a fact he's all talk just like Eddie Hall and I would beat his a** easily. He's barely boxed before, I don't think he's boxed longer than I have. I'm taller than him, stronger than him. I have fought and he has not, I beat his best friend Eddie Hall and he's saying 'I'm s***?'. He's basically telling the world that Eddie Hall sucks at throwing hands."

Instead a bout with Fury now looks more likely with Bjornsson's coach Billy Nelson teasing a big announcement for his boxing future. Bjornsson has also been called back into the ring by his rival Hall who had a tattoo inked in a bid to secure a second meeting after his defeat.

However Bjornsson is currently eyeing other options before any rematch and is willing to make his rival wait another year or two before any redemption mission. Ford has been friends with Hall due to their shared passion for fitness and stated his intentions to avenge his defeat to Bjornsson.

Ford has also suggested a fight would be "perfect" and would have the required build-up to intrigue a wide audience and generate huge interest. "For me in Dubai I saw the Eddie vs Thor fight and I thought Thor did well," Ford told Mirror Fighting . "It was touted out there, 100 per cent I want to fight Thor.

"If we are going to put it out there, name me one other person I want to fight who is the same size and would go head-to-head. They have to have the celebrity, bring the numbers to the table and it also has to be a similar level, size and background. Me and Thor would be perfect. It makes sense on so many levels."
