Thor Bjornsson responds to Tyson Fury call-out as giant heavyweights tease fight

Thor Bjornsson has told Tyson Fury that they will have to let their fists do the talking in a prospective exhibition bout.

The two giant heavyweights are 6'9" in height and would tip the scales at a combined nearly 600lb if they were to meet in any sort of boxing engagements. And they have been toying with the prospect of a bout on social media, with Fury initially posting a message asking about "Thor's hammer".

Fury is the reigning WBC heavyweight champion, but insists that he has retired from the sport after his vicious knockout of Dillian Whyte back in April. He is now in the business of promoting his other interests, and says he would only get back in the ring for exhibition bouts with celebrities or legends, unless a £500million offer was made to get him back legitimately.

Fury took to Instagram to tease a fight with Bjornsson, asking fans in a story post "I wonder if Thor could take a crashing right hand to that big jaw? Who would have Thor's hammer? Would this mountain be too big to climb?"

Bjornsson hit back with a post of his own, telling Fury: "There's only one way to find out, let's make these [our fists] talk. I'm 100 per cent up for a war. Let's do this."

The disparity in boxing skill between the two monstrous heavyweights is significant, with Bjornsson only lacing up gloves for the first time within the last few years. He was once a strongman, which meant ballooning to 450lb+ so he could lift incredibly heavy weights.

But he has cut down to now be just over 300lb in an effort to stay in boxing shape, competing twice in the last year against Eddie Hall and Devon Larratt. He stopped the American arm wrestler in short order, before taking on his true rival from the strongman days in Hall.

Both he and the Brit tipped the scales over 300lbs, and ended up on the deck during their heavy-hitting 'titanweight' clash in Dubai. But it was Bjornsson who ultimately picked up the victory with a unanimous decision.

Fury himself has almost touched the 400lb mark during his lowest ebb in 2017, but is now closer to 270, where he was when he faced Dillian Whyte. He has remained in fighting shape since his "retirement" announcement, which many feel is likely just a ploy for attention as he embarks on a nationwide speaking tour.

Bjornsson and Fury appear to truly be friends, with the pair posing for photos together during a tour date back in December. However, there would be massive money in an exhibition bout between the pair, particularly if Fury were to adopt the standard exhibition rules and not go for a knockout, allowing the bout to be a major spectacle.
