Former Tennessee senator, actor and mummy Fred Thompson spent New Years Day watching football. He made one appearance, at a veterans home in Marshalltown, Iowa. According to the Des Moines Register, Thompson also may have indulged in a siesta.
He said he took a nap Tuesday then quickly added that he was joking when no one in the press corps covering him laughed.
I would have loved to watch Arkansas play Missouri in the Cotton Bowl yesterday, but I spent the day hiking around freezing east Des Moines to report a story.
