Thomas Wells dead: Former X Factor star dies aged 46 after accident at workplace

Former X Factor star Thomas Wells has died aged 46 after an accident at his workplace.

His wife Jessica broke the news of his death, revealing that he had died earlier this month while working at a tire manufacturing plant in Oklahoma.

TMZ have reported that a part of his body had been caught in a conveyer belt-type of machine which was unable to stop.

Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, and then airlifted to a bigger hospital in Texas, Thomas tragically died on November 13.

Thomas appeared on the 2011 series of The X Factor, but he also starred on a number of other singing talent competition.

Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger were on the judging panel in 2011 (1)

Among the shows he also appeared on were The Voice and America's Got Talent.

Thomas managed to get to the bootcamp stage of The X Factor, during which time he worked in a chicken plant.

A YouTube clip shows Thomas belting out Rascall Flatts' I Won't Let Go in a group as Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell watched on.

He first began getting into music at an early age and sang in the choir at church and was able to teach himself to play instruments by ear.

According to the US news outlet, his wife recalled him as a unique person who always had a smile on his face.
