Thomas Tuchel told the 'very sharp' star that can help Chelsea amid Romelu Lukaku injury

Joe Cole believes Mason Mount looked "very sharp and back to his best" in Chelsea's comfortable victory over Malmo in the Champions League.

The Blues came out of their third group clash 4-0 winners thanks to two goals from Jorginho, and one each for Andreas Christensen and Kai Havertz at Stamford Bridge.

However, it was not all good news for Thomas Tuchel as he saw both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner hobble off the pitch with respective injury problems.

Lukaku was taken off after less than 20 minutes after the Belgian won a penalty for the hosts, but went down clutching his ankle as a result.

Werner, meanwhile, was also brought off in the first half, with the Germany international pulling up with what looked to be a muscular injury.

The true extent of both injuries are not yet known, but Tuchel admitted he could be missing his forward duo for this weekend's Premier League clash with Norwich City in west London.

He said to BT Sport: "We have a twist of the ankle for Romelu and a hamstring for Timo. They will be some games out, I guess."

Tuchel will be delighted, though, with the performance of Mount, who perhaps has not looked at his sharpest so far this season, but was excellent for Chelsea against Malmo.

Cole, formerly of the Blues, heaped praise on the England international and said that he looked back to his very best on Wednesday evening.

"Great night for Chelsea which was only tampered by the two front boys with injury," the former Chelsea winger said on BT Sport's coverage of the Champions League game.

"Mason Mount looked very sharp and back to his best. Havertz getting a goal was very important. Solid at the back as always and Mendy did not have anything to do. Solid, run of the mill performance."

Some Chelsea supporters, when taking to Twitter after the game, agreed with what Cole had to say about Mount.

@mounthiveszn said: "Mount is slowly coming back, much better today."

@ftblmiguel said: "I missed this Mason Mount version so much. Have not seen him play this good since the Porto final. Goals are coming back soon."

@solly405 said: "I think Mount (for Man of the Match), no goals or assists but his energy was amazing."

@lasonrsadejoel said: "The squad was amazing but Mount, Jorginho and Havertz were the best #CheMal."
