Thomas Tuchel told he has found his best Chelsea XI after Timo Werner decision

Former Bayern Munich and Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves says that Thomas Tuchel has now found his ideal Chelsea starting line up after the 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Goals from Kai Havertz, Kurt Zouma and a Christian Pulisic double settled the game in favour of the Blues, with a truly dominant first half the key to the victory.

It was a performance a long time coming for Havertz, who arrived from Bayer Leverkusen last summer in a deal worth up to around £70million.

The German star linked well with others in attack, and Hargreaves said that the dynamics on show at Selhurst Park make him believe that when N'Golo Kante returns, Tuchel will have settled on his best line up. And that means no place in the starting XI for Timo Werner.

"These guys look like that had something," Hargreaves told Premier League Productions.

"And I think if [N’Golo] Kante comes in instead of Jorginho, that’s going to be his best team for a while.

"Timo [Werner] is a really good player, but he looks like he’s struggling with confidence. [While] these guys there, they look like they gel, like they’re connected.

"[Ben] Chilwell and [Christian] Pulisic [on the left], [Callum] Hudson-Odoi and [Mason] Mount [on the right], and [Kai] Havertz is kind of linking them all together.

"So when it works, you’ve got to let the boys do it and figure it out more.

"Timo, I think he’s been unlucky, and he’ll come good, but these guys look like they have chemistry right now."

Chelsea face a string of important games with the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Porto this week, before an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City at the weekend.

Then comes the Premier League run-in, with competition tough in the race to secure a top four place.
