Thomas Tuchel told Chelsea have 'world-class' star in their ranks after classy message

Chelsea supporters have been waxing lyrical about Thiago Silva following his latest performance against Malmo.

The 37-year-old, who has around eight months remaining on his contract with the Blues, recorded a rare assist for his team-mate Andreas Christensen in the 4-0 Champions League win, as well as keeping a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge.

Silva was rewarded with a new one-year contract following his debut season in the Premier League last time out, where the experienced Brazilian impressed under both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel.

The former Paris Saint-Germain defender signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2020 on a free transfer following his release from the French club.

Silva has quickly become a fan favourite since signing for the Blues, as it is clear to see after the reaction to his latest social media post.

The defender posted a story on his Instagram story of him applauding the Stamford Bridge faithful, with the caption: "What a dream I am living, thank you."

While Silva thanked the supporters, the message was repaid by the Chelsea fans, who are very appreciative of the Brazilian for what he has done since arriving in the capital.

Speaking about the defender last month, Tuchel lauded Silva for what he brings to the squad.

The Blues boss said in his post-match press conference following his side's win against Tottenham: " From the first day, I met him in Paris, he was a fantastic professional and an outstanding captain. What a fantastic person.

"The approach from him (Silva) to recovery, to live this life as a professional player is outstanding.

"What he (Silva) eats, when he eats, how he recovers, how he trains on the pitch - he is full on, there is no training session where he is trying to hold back.

"He (Silva) is one of the most intensive guys in training physically. He gets better and better with his experience and to step out of what he knew and his zone, status in Paris.

"To step out of this and enter in the hardest competition in Europe at his age shows the competitor he (Silva) is. I don’t look at age, we just look at performances.

"We don’t care if you are super young or a bit older like Thiago. This does not matter. He is in a very good moment for a long time.

"Hopefully, he can preserve this momentum and performance. It was well deserved that he was the man of the match."
