Chelsea's approach to managing the sales of promising players is as risky as hitting snooze in the morning; you can take the hit once, maybe twice if you're lucky, but after three or four snoozes, you're treading on thin ice and will likely pay the price.
The Blues have seen numerous prospects walk out of the doors at Cobham training ground and do well, but none like Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku have.
Roman Abramovich has been left to rue the consequences of hitting snooze on his alarm one time too many, letting the holy trinity out of his sight.
And, while Chelsea fans may have thought that their lesson has been learned, the European champions look set to add a fourth name to that prestigious list of 'what if.'
According to BILD's chief football journalist Christian Falk, Borussia Dortmund has emerged as a potential destination for Blues defender Andreas Christensen.
The report claims that the 25-year-old was in healthy talks with Chelsea over a new contract in the summer. Since November, the Denmark international has appointed himself a new agent, who has the task to sort out his future.
Christensen's potential move back to the Bundesliga sends the west Londoners a stern warning, reminding Roman Abramovich of a mistake he mustn't repeat.
The Dane looks poised to follow the hallowed footsteps of former Blue Kevin De Bruyne, which could see Chelsea miss out on millions in transfer fees if the Belgian's sudden uplift in form is used as a reference point.
De Bruyne left west London in January 2014 to join VfL Wolfsburg with a market value of just £13.5 million, and by the time he had joined Manchester City in the summer of 2015, his price had multiplied by four (£54 million), as per Transfermarkt.
Suppose Christensen continues the great vein of form he's enjoyed while on loan for the two seasons in Germany at Borussia Mönchengladbach. In that case, Chelsea may be losing out on a centre-half whose value could reach as much as £126 million.

Christensen has shown himself to be very comfortable in the Bundesliga, and after two seasons on loan, he will settle very quickly to life in Germany. At the age of 25, he is now going into his prime years, and the valuation on him should rocket once he is tied down to a long term contract. Chelsea might not see him as the most important to sign up now, but that opinion might be completely different in two to three years.
I am using de Bruyne's formula as a guide to what the future may hold then; not only would the Blues miss out on a significant windfall but also potentially the world's most expensive defender.
With Christensen's potential value in mind amid a potential move to a side renowned for developing talent, Chelsea should bite the bullet and hand the Dane a newly-improved deal - lesser of the two evils, in a way.
