Thomas Tuchel sets Timo Werner challenge as Tammy Abraham sent shock Chelsea transfer message

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Saturday, May 22.

Phil Foden makes Kante admission

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has described Chelsea's N'Golo Kante as his toughest opponent to date in his career.

The 20-year-old came up against Kante in the two recent meetings between the sides, which both resulted in Chelsea victories.

Fielding questions in an interview with Sky Sports, the City midfielder was full of praise for the former Leicester City man.

"It’s probably the most obvious one but (N'Golo) Kante," said Foden when asked to name his most difficult opponent.

"He’s just everywhere. You think you’ve got away from him and he’s just always by your side so I would probably say him.

"He does everything, he runs everywhere, he’s such a great player so I’d probably say he’s my toughest opponent I’ve played against.

‘He’s a great player."

Abraham backed to make City move

Tammy Abraham has been tipped to join Premier League champions Manchester City this summer.

The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour in recent weeks and is being linked with an exit in the coming weeks.

Former City man Trevor Sinclair is adamant that Abraham would suit Guardiola's style of play as speculation continues surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge.

“I tell you who could be interested in him is Manchester City. I think he’s an elite forward,” he told talkSPORT.

“I think he’d suit Pep’s way. He’s clinical and he’s shown that this season as he’s right up there with the top goal-scorers and he’s hardly played.”

Tuchel makes Werner prediction

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel hopes that the best version of Timo Werner will be on show on Sunday afternoon at Villa Park.

The German forward has come under scrutiny on numerous occasions this campaign for lacking a clinical edge and being caught offside.

But Tuchel maintained an optimistic view when discussing the struggles of the club's summer signing, stating:

"He's still young and can still improve. This is what we demand week by week. When he has some time to reflect, rest, some time on holiday for mental rest, I'm sure he can take the next steps next year.

"He is not new anymore, he will know the environment, what he is coming back to, his teammates, what he is up against on the first game and how to adapt. This will help him."
