Shearer hails James' showing vs Man City
Former England striker Alan Shearer described Chelsea right-back Reece James' second half performance against Manchester City on Saturday evening as "magnificent."
After falling behind to Raheem Sterling's opener shortly before half time, the Blues produced an outstanding second half performance at the home of the Premier League champions-elect to score twice and turn the game on its head, sealing a 2-1 triumph.
Goals from Hakim Ziyech and Marcos Alonso sealed the victory for Thomas Tuchel's charges, but it was right wing-back James, according to Shearer, that had a major impact on swinging the game in the Blues' favour.
"Reece James, who I thought, particularly in the second half, was magnificent, gave [Benjamin] Mendy a torrid time," Shearer told BBC Sport's Match of the Day.
"His pace, his drive and his quality to get up there... they couldn't handle him. There were at least three or four occasions when he was able to do that.
"But when he is doing that he is pulling everyone else up there with him. It was great skill to get into that position and there is his teammate on the other side - Alonso."

Sancho addresses his future
Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has admitted that "doesn't know" what the future holds for him as he continues to be linked with an exit from the German giants.
The England international, who will be hoping to light up this summer's European Championships, has been heavily linked with a return to England in the past year or so, with both Chelsea and Manchester United amongst his suitors.
But as reports claim that Dortmund have reduced their asking price for the winger by £30million, Sancho has admitted that he is unsure of what the future could hold.
Sancho said: “I don’t know about my future.
"I am very happy here, I love the club, I love the fans. They’ve always supported me. They gave me my first professional start and I’m very grateful to them for having me here."

Rudiger hails quartet
Centre-back Antonio Rudiger heaped praise on the shoulders of Kurt Zouma, Billy Gilmour, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Alonso following the Blues' 2-1 triumph over City.
Rudiger started in a central defensive trio alongside Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen, only for the latter to be substituted right at the end of the first half and replaced by Zouma.
Gilmour, meanwhile, started in midfield, whilst Hudson-Odoi stepped off the bench and Alonso was the match-winner.
Rudiger, as quoted by the Express, said: "For me I have to big up to Kurt and also to, for me, Billy Gilmour.
I think he grew into this game. He was very, very important for us.
"Also Callum who came in, there was directly fire inside, also Marcos [Alonso].
"As we said, the group, even the guys who are on the bench and are not playing that often, they showed they are also very important and they showed they can be the difference.
"I know sometimes it’s frustrated to sit on the bench and everything because I’ve experienced this myself, but you always have to keep going.
"If you take even the first half, the two actions, the first goal and the penalty, otherwise they [City] didn’t have a big threat."
