Thomas Tuchel's dream Chelsea lineup with both Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is faced with an intriguing dilemma now that Thiago Silva has returned.

Silva has been out for eight games in all, featuring on the bench as emergency back up for one of those games, but he now looks set to return for good following his thigh injury.

While that is good news for Chelsea, the Brazilian veteran impressing in his first half a season at Stamford Bridge, it does cause a selection headache for Tuchel.

In recent weeks, the German head coach has largely played Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen across a back three, and there has been a suggestion Christensen would have to drop out despite his impressive form.

But Tuchel has suggested he won't do that, hinting he could play both Silva and Christensen.

“They can play together for sure," he said. "I’m very sure that Christensen can play on both sides of the back three and they can also play together as centre-backs in a back four as well.

“The position in the middle is the best for Thiago but Andreas is also on the same level and he can also play on both sides so there is no problem.”

So, that means he will have to choose between Rudiger and Azpilicueta to drop, and it's not going to be the latter.

Blues skipper Azpilicueta has played every Premier League minute since Tuchel's arrival, and it doesn't look like he is about to be dropped.

That would suggest Rudiger would have to give way, despite Tuchel clearly taking a liking to his fellow countryman, and we already know he has favourites in other positions.

With that in mind, he is the dream Tuchel lineup with both Christensen and Silva in the starting XI.

Mendy, Azpilicueta, Silva, Christensen, Alonso, Hudson-Odoi; Kovacic, Jorginho; Mount, Werner; Havertz.
