Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea undroppable hints at new contract as first summer transfer edges closer

Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Tuesday, June 8.

Kante hints at wish for a new contract

Although Germany international Kai Havertz will go down in history as being the man that scored the goal to secure Chelsea their second UEFA Champions League crown, many others will remember the sensational performance of N'Golo Kante.

The midfield-enforcer was nothing short of sensational in the middle of the park against Manchester City last Saturday evening, scooping the Man of the Match award as a result.

His performance was hailed by head coach Thomas Tuchel, his teammates and pundits alike following the match, so much so that some have called for him to be nominated for the Ballon d'Or. However, it seems as though the former Leicester City man has his sights set on earning a new contract, after admitting that he he hopes to experience more special memories beyond the two years he has left on his current deal.

Speaking in a press conference whilst on France duty ahead of Euro 2020 getting under way later this week, he said: "I have been at Chelsea for five years, I have enjoyed wonderful seasons. I hope to experience many others.

"It is not something that I am focusing on. I have another two years of contract with Chelsea and I feel good."

Youngster set for Hammers switch

Chelsea youngster Pierre Ekwah Elimby is set to seal an exit Stamford Bridge and join London rivals West Ham United.

The 19-year-old, who operates as a defensive-minded midfield player, is close to joining the Hammers following a successful trial period with the club.

Ekwah, who had a trial with League One side Portsmouth earlier this year, will join the east London club for a fee of around £1.5million, with the Blues set to insert a significant sell-on clause in the deal ahead of his stock potentially rising in the future.

The youngster, despite being on the brink of sealing an exit from Stamford Bridge, has featured for the club's under-23 side in Premier League 2 this season, racking up seven appearances. As well as making seven appearances for the under-23s he also chipped in with one goal.

Haaland wanted

Chelsea have been working on a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland for months, according to a report by The Athletic reporter Simon Johnson, as cited by CaughtOffside.

It is no secret to anybody that signing a striker is Tuchel's top priority this summer in a bid to strengthen Chelsea's attacking output next season.

A range of strikers have been linked with moves to west London, but Haaland is considered as the Blues' top target, with reports in Norway claiming that the Blues are working 'intensely' to land his signature.

Now, it is reported that a plan to bring Haaland to the club has been ongoing 'for months,' highlighting just how keen the Blues are to secure his signature.

It remains to be seen whether or not Dortmund will be prepared to sell him.
