Thomas Tuchel proven right after harsh "don't you understand" Timo Werner blast

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel ended up being proven right for his berating of Timo Werner from the sidelines during their win over Everton on Monday night.

The Blues ran out 2-0 winners at Stamford Bridge against the in-form Toffees thanks to Ben Godfrey’s own goal and a Jorginho penalty.

Chelsea struck a little over half an hour into the match after Kai Havertz’ effort was turned in by Everton defender Godfrey.

But just five minutes earlier Tuchel could be heard slamming Werner over his positioning and questioning his lack of tactical knowledge.

Speaking in German, Tuchel was picked up by the cameras saying: ”Timo, how long are you staying on the left? You're playing on the right!

"The last 15 mins you've only been on the left! Don't you understand?"

Of course, Chelsea shortly went on to take the lead, and it was a lurking Werner at the back post that caused Godfrey not to pick up Havertz, and eventually get his feet in a bit of a muddle ending up with him putting the ball into the back of his own net.

One man who has not had much playing time under Tuchel is Christian Pulisic, who was once again brought on as a substitute against Everton.

And Tuchel admitted that the American had been unlucky not to play more, even criticising his own “bad decisions” at leaving out several fringe members of his squad.

“I can say nothing else but good things about him," Tuchel said during his post-game press conference.

"Maybe his biggest problem is that I know him from Dortmund and I think he started only in the cup games.

"It is my responsibility and it is a bit unfair but I know what impact he can have in the last 20 or 30 minutes.

"He was a bit unlucky in the last few games. It isn't a lack of trust or quality, it is just that he will have to be patient.

"I have another guy who I would love to mention in Emerson [Palmieri] who suffers from bad decisions by me.

"He does not play but he is an amazing guy who trains at the highest level and he never lets the team down with his mentality.

"It was a super hard decision today to have him out of the squad, the same with Tammy [Abraham].

"It is like this, we have a strong group. The guys have to keep on fighting. There's no other way."
