Thomas Tuchel offers transfer update as Chelsea told to drop £72m star for Liverpool clash

Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Saturday, August 28

Transfer update

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has given an update on Chelsea's plans ahead of Tuesday night's transfer deadline.

"We have some ideas, we are trying, not all decisions are taken, there are some negotiations going on,” Tuchel said ahead of his side's clash against Liverpool on Saturday evening.

“Hoping in the meaning, that we need something to make the coach happy, absolutely not, I'm happy with the squad like it is. I have a lot of confidence that we are absolutely competitive on a high level.

“Still all eyes are open, we are aware of all situations, you never know in football, but we're focused on the game tomorrow. All good so far.”

Havertz to be dropped?

Arsenal icon Ian Wright has told Tuchel to drop German playmaker Kai Havertz for the Blues' trip to Anfield on Saturday, claiming that Jurgen Klopp's side would deal with him better than Arsenal did last weekend.

“They can’t play Havertz," Wright said on The Kelly & Wrighty Show.

"They (Chelsea) are not going to play like they played against Arsenal away from home because they could take liberties with Arsenal, because Arsenal’s lack of organisation, they won’t do this against Liverpool.”

Jorginho's agent

Jorginho's agent, Joao Santos, has issued a fresh update on his client's future with Chelsea.

“He has a two-year contract with Chelsea," Santos told TuttoMercatoWeb.

"As a philosophy, the club renews contracts when one year is missing. We will see what happens next year.”

Then, when asked if his client could consider a return to Serie A, Santos replied: “Obviously, yes. When you win a European Championship with Italy, the next step can be to play in Italy.

"But now we don’t get hot. Everything changes in a short time."
