Thomas Tuchel makes tactical admission ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Brentford

Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he will not change Chelsea’s approach in the coming weeks.

The Blues are currently in pole position heading into this weekend’s fixtures and they can potentially extend their lead at the top with three points over Brentford this evening, depending on how the other fixtures pan out.

There are now seven Chelsea games until the next international break, and Chelsea are favourites in each and every one of those ties. However, Tuchel doesn’t want to get overly ahead of himself, and has urged his players to stay focused.

“Well, we are the favourites in all of the seven, if you look at the seven games we are the favourites,” he told Chelsea TV.

“Does it [Chelsea’s approach] change too much? No. It’s important that we don’t change our approach but we play in the same way that we did against Southampton where we were also the favourites and we don’t over expect from us.

“So, don’t look too much at the results, don’t expect seven wins because it brings you nowhere. You have to be ready every single game.

"We have to be aware that all of these teams will overperform against us, they will play on their top level and give us a hard time.”

Tuchel continued by admitting that Chelsea are in for a tough game against Thomas Frank's high-flying Brentford, but he is confident that his side will have enough to get the job done.

“They have a unique approach.

“They showed resilience when they did not win the play-offs one year ago and then they came back this season.

“They did very, very good as they caught momentum from the very first start, they were not shy, they were brave, courageous.

"They have deserved results, they have a lot of points and credit to them, but we will come and try to win and we can accept that it’s a tough one right now to play them but it’s the Premier League and we’re up for it.”
