Thomas Tuchel makes Liverpool admission as Chelsea chase top four

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has warned his side that Liverpool will not give up on their quest to secure a top four finish.

The Reds are locked in a battle to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League, with six fixtures remaining to try and climb the table.

Liverpool are currently in seventh place in the Premier League standings, two points adrift of Chelsea who occupy fourth.

West Ham are also level on points with Chelsea, with the two London clubs going head to head in the league today.

Tottenham are one point above Liverpool having played a game more, and a win over Newcastle would see them leapfrog one of Chelsea or West Ham by the end of the weekend’s round of fixtures.

Chelsea still have to play Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester this season, as well as West Ham this weekend, and Tuchel is in no doubt that Liverpool still pose a major threat to their top four hopes.

"Yes, I think so," Tuchel told Chelsea's 5th Stand App when asked about whether the top four battle will go to the wire.

He added: "I do not have the feeling this race is over. Liverpool will not stop doing everything in their power to grab a place in the top four, so I think, if you look at our fixtures, we have so many crucial games coming up.

"It's a tight schedule and we have tough games coming up.

"We have to turn the situation around, we started the situation together with a huge gap between us and Liverpool and now we arrive in a game like this in fourth place, and it is in our hands.

"That's the good news, and the bad news is we have to show it every three days, again and again."
