Thomas Tuchel makes Chelsea admission after Liverpool and Man City pull ahead in Premier League title race

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel says he isn't concerned with the title race, but that he's worried about the number of players currently sidelined through injury or illness.

The London club only managed a 1-1 draw in their clash with Everton on Thursday night after Mason Mount's opener was cancelled out by a goal from Jarrad Branthwaite.

Liverpool and City both won their respective fixtures comfortably and Chelsea now sit three points behind the Reds in second.

The gap may still remain small, but Tuchel says he's worried about the number of players unavailable during a hectic schedule.

"I don't have an answer for that [mistakes costing them in the title race]," he told the media post-match.

"I'm concerned that we had too many players out today, seven players out at the moment.

"I think at the moment this is the problem. One of the key problems.

"Again, all of our strikers out. We had this problem four weeks ago where Romelu [Lukaku] and Kai [Havertz] were both injured for weeks.

"So we struggle with this and at the same point we always focus on the solution and the guys that we have on the pitch. We were strong enough today."

Tuchel was unable to select Lukaku, Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi after the trio tested positive for Covid prior to the match.

Chelsea's lack of a goalscorer was evident as they dominated possession against Everton and had 10 shots on target, but only managed to score just once through Mount.
