Thomas Tuchel makes £30m Saul Niguez decision as Chelsea 'in contact' over free agent transfer

Chelsea are due to play two cup fixtures before their next Premier League outing, while there's plenty of interest in proceedings off the field.

The opening of the transfer window is set to spark a flurry of activity in England, with Chelsea and their rivals all pushing to complete business before the window slams shut again at the end of January.

For Thomas Tuchel, transfer activity will likely see both new faces brought in and players departing, with rumours already in full swing.

One player that does seem set for an exit, albeit at the end of the season, is Saul Niguez as the Express states Chelsea are not prepared to pay the required fee to turn the midfielder's loan into a permanent deal.

The Spaniard put in a man-of-the-match display in the midweek Carabao Cup win against Tottenham but that has not changed Chelsea's view on the Atletico Madrid loanee.

Chelsea have a £30m option for a permanent transfer this summer, having negotiated the Spanish side away from an obligation to buy, and are set to ship Saul back to the Spanish capital.

Elsewhere, Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna has stated that Chelsea are among the clubs to have contacted Marseille over midfielder Boubacar Kamara.

Newcastle United and Manchester United are also attributed with an interest in the 22-year-old, who is out of contract this summer.

Finally, Barcelona's rebuild continues to see Chelsea players attract attention and Mundo Deportivo states Andreas Christensen is of interest.

The Danish defender is out of contract at the end of the season and that's when Barcelona are planning their move, though they're free to discuss terms of a pre-contractual agreement this month - and have already been linked with Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger.
